Malchus and the Female Encompassing the Male
Yirmiyahu gives the cryptic verse:
נְקֵבָה תְּסוֹבֵב גָּבֶר
“A woman shall encompass a man” (Jeremiah 31:21).
Kabbalistic and Chassidic traditions have read this in relation to the future elevation of the feminine and Malchus.
The Chavah Kadmonah framework pairs it with אֵשֶׁת חַיִל עֲטֶרֶת בַּעְלָהּ, the woman of valour as crown, and interprets the geometry as encompassing rather than replacing.
This distinction is subtle and essential.
To encompass is not to dominate.
A crown is above the head but cannot think instead of the head.
The head bears the crown.
The crown reveals the dignity of the head.
The future feminine is not a mirror-image patriarchy.
It is not a revenge of the receiver upon the giver.
The deepest feminine ascent would be betrayed by such a reversal because it would merely reproduce the old grammar of domination with different occupants.
The Chavah Kadmonah claim is stronger.
Relationship itself becomes the encompassing context.
Structure remains.
But structure now knows what it serves.
The head remains a head.
But the crown reveals why the head matters.
