Moshiach: Malchus Coming of Age
Moshiach is inseparable from Malchus because Moshiach is ben David.
Davidic kingship returns.
Yet the purpose cannot be reduced to political sovereignty.
Rambam’s description of Moshiach is concrete: restoration of Torah order, Davidic kingship, the Beis HaMikdash, the gathering of exiles and a world increasingly directed toward knowledge of Hashem.
He ends the entire Mishneh Torah with Isaiah:
כִּי מָלְאָה הָאָרֶץ דֵּעָה אֶת ה׳ כַּמַּיִם לַיָּם מְכַסִּים
“The earth shall be filled with knowledge of Hashem as the waters cover the sea” (Isaiah 11:9).
The earth.
Not replaced by heaven.
Filled.
This is the Messianic triumph of Malchus.
The vessel remains a vessel.
The world remains creation.
Human beings remain human beings.
Yet created existence ceases to obscure its Source.
The finite becomes transparent.
This is why the deepest vision of Geulah is not annihilation of the world but healing of the world’s relationship with its own existence.
Today the world says:
“I am.”
Geulah does not force it to stop saying “I am”.
Geulah teaches it to complete the sentence:
“I am because You continually give me being.”
That is redeemed Malchus.
The yesh remains.
The delusion of self-origin disappears.
