Act VII — The CrownSection 72 of 74
The Throne
A throne is empty before the King sits.
Its emptiness is not failure.
It is fitness.
Fill the throne with something else and it cannot serve as throne.
This may be the cleanest image of Malchus.
She is empty in the shape of the King.
Her nothingness has form.
Her receptivity is directed.
She is not open to everything indiscriminately.
She is open upward.
This is why bittul matters.
A vessel that receives whatever enters is not holy receptivity.
Malchus receives according to covenant.
She has a throne because she knows Whom she is waiting for.
